The Directorate of Public Participation and Civic Education is mandated to promote inclusive governance by facilitating citizen engagement in decision-making processes across Laikipia County. Guided by the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, and the Laikipia County Public Participation and Civic Education Act, 2014, the Directorate ensures that residents have access to timely, relevant information and opportunities to participate actively in county planning, budgeting, and development processes. Through civic education, the Directorate empowers communities with knowledge on their rights, responsibilities, governance, devolution, and avenues for meaningful participation, fostering transparency, accountability, and responsive leadership.
Citizens in Laikipia County engage actively during public participation through various structured and inclusive forums organized by the county government. These engagements allow the public to voice their views, concerns, and suggestions on development priorities, policies, budgets, and legislative proposals.
